December Blog Hop Challenge

December Inspiration

Now it's your turn to tie up your next paper crafting project with string.  Tie on a tag, maybe a button or two.  Wrap your card front with several strands in different hues.  Pair string with washi tape to create a banner in all of your favorite colors.  Add knots, braids or twists with string and manipulate it in unique ways.  Let your creativity take the lead!  We look forward to seeing all of your creations tied up!

My entry in this month's Blog Challenge with string was to knit up a little swap for a fun encouraging card. Knitting with toothpicks was a new challenge to conquer.

Supplies:Bakers twine. Knit Bits, Purls of Wisdom, Pure Poppy  and Scarlet Jewel ink, toothpicks.

PTI November Blog Hop

The-Challenge
November-Blog-Hop-Challenge
 photo credits:  :::1:::  :::2:::  :::3:::  :::4:::  :::5::

This month's Papertry Ink Blog Hop challenge is to use the house template provided and create a fun whatever you desire with it. I must admit I struggled with this challenge and did not even finish until after nine last night.

I finally decided to make my house into a little snow scene to sit on my wall unit. I used Winter Hills to create a snowy background scene. To the house I added icicles make from Ranger white enamel. The little tree in front of the house is two cozy coffee tree dies cut in the middle so I could make a 3-D tree. To the door and windows of my house I decorated with Love Lives Here Holiday inked in pine feather with tiny red jewel accents. I cut windows into the house and added PTI vellum colored with Harvest Gold ink. I ran the house through my GC using the Aida IP and the Cane IP for the roof top.

Make It Monday #141: Adding Glitter with Heat and Stick Embossing Powder

Papertrey Ink's awesome Design Team member, Heather Nichols shows everyone in this week's Make It Monday how to make a beautiful card with heat and stick embossing powder and glitter.
For this card I used Tim Holtz sticky embossing powder instead of heat and stick embossing. I started out putting the sticky embossing powder and glitter on just the floral burst but loved the look of the extra glitter on the rest of the card that I went back and embossed and glittered the entire card.
The background I did first with distress inks on my craft sheet with water and swiped my paper through the inks to create this fun autumn colors. After I heat set the background inks I stamped the images onto it using the same background colors.
This was such a fun technique I am sure I will making many more cards using glitter and sticky embossing powder.

Supplies: PTI Meadow Greens stamp set, Terracotta Tile CS, Him Holtz distress Ink, TM rock candy glitter,TH Ranger Sticky embossing powder,Versamark ink.

Make It Monday #135: Layered Emboss Resist

This week's PTI design team member Heather Nichols shows us how add depth and style to any project with layered emboss resist technique.

For this week's project I also used a piece of phone book paper in the background. It was described in PAPERCRAFTS magazine Creative Card Challenges. I stamped over the paper with PTI Background Basic Stitching stamp in Ripe Avocado. The sentiment is from Birds and Blooms stamped in Versamark, the clear embossed butterflies are from Beautiful Butterflies with Enchanted Evening ink. The card base is Enchanted Evening CS with a hand dyed strip of ribbon.

I'd love to know what you think, so please feel free to share! Thanks and have a blessed day.

I could not see the embossing after I stamped the image. This is definitely one of those techniques I will need to practice more and improve on. But it has been such a busy week at work that I'm glad to be getting this card submitted under the wire, and I need to be ready to order some PTI later this evening!
